About the Joint Campus Ministers
The Joint Campus Ministers (JCM) is an organization made up of individuals from multiple faiths and religious backgrounds who have been called primarily to care for the religious and spiritual well-being of students. Each JCM is directly affiliated with a recognized group on campus.
These individuals come together to form the Rice JCM. The JCM exists to foster respect and mutual understanding among ourselves, our groups, and people of different faiths and religious backgrounds on the Rice campus. We do this by listening and sharing but also by modeling what respectful and appropriate dialog and debate looks like between people who may disagree about dearly held convictions and beliefs.
When common ground can be attained we will stand together, and when it cannot, we agree to stand apart with charity, respect, and kindness.
JCM Mission and Purpose
The Joint Campus Ministers' mission is to support and enhance the religious and spiritual life of the university community by promoting a genuine appreciation and respect for religious diversity.
